"When I’m not practicing for VCO or reading a score, you can find me researching at the LGBTQ+ Policy Lab or serving as an RA in Zeppos College. In my free time, I love to run around Nashville, hike in Percy Warner Park, and explore new study spots on campus."

"Outside of VCO, I am a member of Theta Tau, Vanderbilt’s professional engineering fraternity, and I frequently work with the Data Science Institute at Vanderbilt. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting, playing guitar, and binge-watching Survivor."

“Outside of VCO, I am also involved in Heartstrings and do research at the Fine Arts Gallery. My hobbies include reading, going on walks, visiting museums, and thrifting.”

"Outside of performing with VCO, I am Secretary for University Catholic and a research assistant for the Advancing Learning Lab. In my free time, I am usually watching a k-drama, singing along to musical theatre songs, or listening to k-pop music."

“Along with playing cello in VCO, I play piano (could you tell by my fav composers?) and I love going to concerts. If I’m not spending an evening at the Nashville Symphony you might find me seeing a Flipturn concert at the Basement East or watching a horror movie with some friends. At Vandy, I’m also a tour guide, a member of the swim club, and an organic chemistry lab research assistant.”

"Not surprisingly, I love to draw and make music, but I also love filming videos, visiting museums, exploring new places, and trying new foods! I will also be a VUceptor this year. You can find me walking around campus listening to music (feel free to wave hello!)."

“When I am not playing, printing, or ‘practicing’ for VCO, you can find me cooking, listening to music, and watching shows and movies. On campus, I conduct research at the Winder Lab, and I am on board for Friends of MSF (Doctors Without Borders) at Vanderbilt and for Global Brigades. Some hobbies that I have picked up recently are playing and watching soccer and playing poker.”

"Outside of VCO, I'm involved in the ROCCA (Research on Conflict and Collective Action) Lab and Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations. In my free time, I like to binge movies/anime, go to concerts, fish for salmon, pet cats and teach them fun tricks, play cards, and go hiking/trail running."

“In addition to composing and conducting music, I host a radio show on VandyRadio and listen to a lot of boygenius. I love roadtrips, backpacking, and poetry.”

“Leon Kobayashi is a senior at Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Integrated Studies Majoring in Violin with a Concentration in Conducting. He studies violin under Stephen Miahky and has studied conducting under Robin Fountain and Tucker Biddlecombe. He has received additional guidance from Andrew Litton (NYC Ballet), Miguel Harth-Bedoya (Fort Worth Symphony Laureate), Alexander Mickelthwate (Oklahoma City Philharmonic), and Scott Seaton (North State Symphony). As a violinist, he has attended international music festivals including Le Festival International du Domaine Forget, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and played in masterclasses for renowned artists, including Robert McDuffie, Peter Zazofsky, and Martin Chalifour. He is a frequent violin sub for Nashville Symphony and Nashville Ballet Orchestra.”
